Organisation

Rizoom serves as an uniting link between festivals, funds, artists, venues, ensembles, media and audiences and stimulates new developments within the field. We aim to help build a supportive artistic community and reach new audiences for both the young makers and our affiliated partners.

Who is involved?

Rizoom was founded in 2020 by leading Dutch institutions for new music: Gaudeamus and November Music festivals, Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ, Het Muziek (formerly known as Asko❘Schönberg), Intro in Situ, Korzo and De Doelen. In 2026, Rizoom network grew by a number of organisations which extend our reach into more fields of expertise and cover larger territory: Oranjewoud Festival, iii, Birds of Paradise, Paviljoen Ongehoorde Muziek and Pakhûs SOLO.

Summary of Policy Plan

Rizoom is an initiative of some of the most important representatives of the Dutch contemporary music culture. They join forces to offer young makers of new music a platform to develop themselves and a platform to make their voices heard. Makers applying via the open call are asked to submit a research proposal and are selected by the partners of the network. Annually, a maximum of six makers are guided and funded in their research. Results of this research (in any form) is presented at least once during a public event connected to one of the partners.

Objectives

We nurture, guide, and develop talented innovators and music creators. By providing tailored mentorship, funding, and resources across our network of partners, we enable artists to accelerate their creative development and expand their professional reach.

Remuneration Policy

  • Supervisory Board: Members of the Supervisory Board serve on an unremunerated (voluntary) basis.
  • Staff Compensation: Stichting Rizoom is committed to fair and socially responsible compensation that aligns with our status as a cultural institution.

  • Standards & Compliance: We strictly adhere to the Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) for Theatre & Dance, and our remuneration guidelines fully comply with the core values of the Fair Practice Code.
